It looks as if the Mets are finally waiving the white flag on the 2010 season. In moves to save money and promote younger players, the Mets have released Alex Cora and sent Jesus Feliciano to Triple-A Buffalo, and recall OF Fernando Martinez and Ruben Tejada. Martinez and Tejada will both join the team in Philadelphia on Saturday.
Opinion - I like the fact that Martinez and Tejada were recalled. The only problem is that there are two veteran players blocking them from playing everyday in Jeff Francoeur and Luis Castillo. Martinez and Tejada need to play everyday, so I hope this means that Francoeur and Castillo will see decreased playing time. In any event, this will at least bring a little excitement to Citi Field in what is looking to be a very dismal Aug and Sept.
