Update: Luis Castillo

Second baseman Luis Castillo told the New York Post Friday night before the series opener with the Philadelphia Phillies that he's tired of being a member of the New York Mets. "I can't be here any more," Castillo said. Castillo wants to play everyday, which is certainly part of the problem, but the club's underachieving is likely part of it, too, and Castillo took it all a step further, saying "I know I'm not going to be here next year."

Opinion - First things first. Castillo says he is tired of being a member of the Mets, well what a coincidence, the fans and the organization are tired of him as well. As far as his quote saying that he knows he is not going to here next year, us as fans and the organization can only hope that this is true. I have always been one to support Castillo in his stint with the Mets, but he has worn on me and the fact that he thinks he should be an everyday player for this club is pathetic. He has absolutely no range in the field and has no idea how to be a situational hitter. The Mets however will have a problem moving Castillo in the off-season. He has a very hefty price tag, he is a clubhouse cancer, and I don't see any team out there who would want an aging cranky 2nd baseman with little range. In other words, Castillo might not want to be here, and we may not want him here, but he is most likely stuck here for another year.
