The Mets open a 4 game series tonight VS the Astros in Houston. If the Mets plan on getting back into the WildCard race somehow, they must do so during this road trip. During the trip they will face the Astros 4 times and the Pittsburgh Pirates 3 times. The combined record of these two clubs equals 90-143. The Astros and Pirates are the only two offenses statistically worse than the Mets. Opening the series on the mound for the Mets will be John Niese. Niese has been great his last two outings but does not have a win to show for it. Niese is 1-0 in his career VS the Astros in his one start against them. Opposing Niese will be fellow LHP Wandy Rodriguez. Rodriguez has had a decent season for the Astros. For his career he is 2-2, with a 3.68 ERA VS the Mets. Game time is 8:05 PM at Minute Maid Park.
