According to Andy Martino of the New York Daily News, Mets closer Francisco Rodriguez tore a ligament in his right thumb last Wednesday night during the altercation he had with his father-in-law that resulted in a charge of 3rd degree assault.
Kevin Burkhardt reports that surgery is needed and K-Rod's season is likely over.
Does this really surprise anyone? As if the whole incident wasn't bad enough, the Mets will now be without their closer for the rest of the season. Any hope that the organization or fans had that this team would somehow turn the season around are now gone. Season over.
