Jerry Manuel's Post-Game News Conference

During Jerry Manuel's Post-Game new conference the question was asked why didn't he bring Francisco Rodriguez in for a 4 out save? Manuel's response was that he didn't want to use Rodriguez for more than 3 outs a day after he just pitched. He said that if he did that, they could be risking Rodriguez's health the rest of the season. The question was then asked of him was he concerned using Takahashi on consecutive nights because he is not used pitching on consecutive days? Maunel's response was,"No, he can handle the load."

Opinion - These responses are preposterous. Manuel has stated over and over again all year that Rodriguez is better when he works more often. He totally contradicted himself with his comments tonight. Rodriguez has handled this amount of work in the past under Manuel. Why he couldn't handle it tonight is beyond me. Every game is a must win for this ball club, and must be handled as a must win situation. Jerry managed tonight as if they has a 2 game lead in the division. I have one word for Jerry regarding tonight's decision. Terrible.
