The Mets Hall Of Fame Induction today at CitiField was fantastic. It brought back so many memories. Seeing those former Mets stars on the field was amazing.
Frank Cashen who was the architect of the great 1980's teams was fantastic in his speech. I thought he was really pure and genuine when he spoke about his time with the Mets. It was obvious that he loved the city and the fans. He knew what he brought to this organization and was well aware of his teams' success on the field.
Davey Johnson was typical Davey Johnson. He has always been very proud of himself and rightfully so and things did not change today. He was the man that injected the attitude and personality that seperated the 1986 Mets from everyone else.
I can go on for days about Dwight Gooden. This man really was the phenomonon that everyone always talks about. He was the most dominant pitcher I have ever seen. It was clear how emotional today was for him. He seemed as if he wanted to burst into tears at the podium. A man who has been through so much in his life (unfortunately brought on by himself), to be inducted into the Mets Hall of Fame, where he had the most success as a professional ballplayer had to mean everything to him. You can tell that he was humble and thankful for this opportunity. I wish "DOC" nothing but success in the future.
It was nice to see Darryl Strawberry today. It's amazing how a man who has been through so much in his life as a baseball player and as a human being can be so secure and confindent in who he is today. I am very proud for Darryl Strawberry. He was one of the most feared hitters in franchise history. He still holds most offensive club records to this day.
Congrats Mets Hall Of Fame Class of 2010!
