Alex Cora, who was just released by the Mets, was a guest on WFAN today. During his interview, Cora said that he believes that part of the Mets' struggles this year was that they didn't know how to stay consistent in their emotions. Cora went on to explain that when the team gets on a roll they get very high and emotional, but when they go bad they get very low. He said that most winning teams know how to keep their emotions in check and take one day at a team, something the Mets could not do when he was there.
When talking about his release, Cora was quoted as saying, "Let’s be honest, I’m hitting .207 and in sports you have to perform. When you hit .207 ... they obviously expected a little bit more and that comes with the territory. And they also wanted to see the young kids perform."
Opinion- I wish Alex Cora well. I hope he catches on with a contending team. He deserves it. He was nothing but a class act in New York and was very instrumental in helping the young players on this team develop.
