In a report for FoxSports.com, Ken Rosenthal and Jon Paul Morosi say the Mets have discussed acquiring Pirates closer Octavio Dotel and Blue Jays reliever Scott Down.
Opinion: While I do not know much about Scott Down. I do know a lot about Octavio Dotel. Dotel who came up through the Mets organization and was later traded to Houston before the start of the 2000 in the deal that brought Mike Hampton to the Mets is a hard thrower with a lot of passion. I really wanted the Mets to bring Dotel back when the Yankees signed him. I would love for him to come back as I think he is a perfect guy for the 8th inning and a guy who could spell the struggling Francisco Rodriguez when needed.
