No "O"

The Mets lost to the D-Backs by the score of 3-2 last night at Chase Field.

R.A. Dickey was once again very good. He was a lot better than his 7 IP, 7 H, 2 BB 3 ER line showed. He really should have only given up 1 run. Carlos Beltran misplayed a fly ball in the 4th inning that led to two runs. Beltran did not look good in CF last night. In the past he tracks that ball down with ease. He is definitely moving more gingerly than he used to.

The offense was stagnant once again as well. After loading the bases with 1 out in the Top of the 1st, rookie RHP Pitcher Barry Enright struck out Ike Davis and Jason Bay to end the threat. He would go on to retire 14 hitters in a row. Finally in the Top of th 6th Jose Reyes broke the string of consecutive out with a hard struck single, but he was immediately erased by an Angel Pagan 3-6-3 DP. All night the Mets were held down. They were never able to get a rally going. Finally in the 8th Josh Thole hit is first MLB home run. A solo shot to right that Justin Upton almost robbed by going over the wall but it just cleared his glove. Then in the 9th Angel Pagan hit a solo shot to right center to give the Mets their second and final run.

This team has looked absolutely dreadful since returning from the All-Star break. They have absoulutely no energy. They look as if they are a team defeated before they even take the field.
They have now fell 6 1/2 games back of the division leading Braves and 3 1/2 games back of the Wild Card leading Cinncinatti Reds.

It does not get any easier as the Mets take on the ace of the D-Backs staff in Dan Haren tonight.
