The Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Mets by the score of 6-5 today at Citizen Bank Park. The Mets jumped on Phillies' ace Roy Halladay in the first inning, scoring a pair of runs on RBI 1B's by Angel Pagan and Ike Davis to give the Mets a 2-0 lead. However, R.A. Dickey could not hold the lead, surrendering a Solo HR to Jayson Werth in the 2nd, and a 3-run HR in the third to Raul Ibanez. The Mets fought back to score 2 more times against Halladay to get within 1 run, but could not bring the game tying run around to score.
R.A. Dickey just did not have it today. He was leaving his knuckeball up and the Phillies were hitting it hard. Today was the first time in Dickey's 16 starts this year that he did not get through 5 IP. That is how good Dickey has been for this team. He can't be perfect every time out and he was out of sync today. He wound up only going 3 IP, while giving up 6 Runs (4ER), 8 Hits, 1BB, and no K's.
Jose Reyes, although going 2-4 on the day at the plate, made another error on a routine play. He now has 12 errors on the year.
Jose Reyes and Angel Pagan went a combined 4-8, with 2 2B, 2 RBI, and 3 Runs scored.
Carlos Beltran, David Wright, and Ike Davis went a combined 1-12 on the afternoon, and Beltran and Wright combined on the 6 game road trip to go 5-45.
The Mets completed the road trip going 2-4 and have not won a rubber game of a series on the road all year. The team will be off tomorrow and start a 6 game home-stand beginning with the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday night. Game time is 7:10PM.
