Adam Rubin of ESPNnewyork.com, spoke to an NL East Scout at the Bisons' game yesterday who said that the Mets have the deepest Farm System in the Division. The scout included guys such as Ike davis and Fernando Martinez who have less than 1 full year of MLB experience. In a very loose order, Rubin and the scout rank the Mets Top 10 Prospects in the following order:
1. Jenrry Mejia RHP
2. Wilmer Flores SS
3. Ike Davis 1B
4. Kirk Nieuwenhuis OF
5. Fernando Martinez OF
6. Josh Thole C
7. Ruben Tejada INF
8. Robert Carson LHP
9. Jeurys Familia RHP
10. Brandon Moore RHP
They also mention a named that we will be hearing about soon in SS Jordany Valdespin.
Opinion - I like the fact that the team has organizational depth, but the scout and Rubin go on to state that they don't have a "star" minor leaguer such as Jason Heyward or Mike Stanton. I'm hoping that either Mejia or Flores become that "star" guy with a little more fine tuning. Flores I feel has the most potential as he is still only 19 years old.
