According to Ken Rosenthal of Foxsports.com, the Ne York Yankees appear to the be the front runners to land Diamondbacks ace RHP Dan Haren. The Yankees feel that they have the pieces to put in place in order to make a deal work. ARI has indicated that they are in advanced negotiations with one club.
Opinion: Why am I not surprised? Unfortunately you have to give the Yankees credit. As soon as they have a hole due to injury or ineffectiveness they immediately try and plug it. I understand that they have unlimited financial resources, however, I feel plugging holes with an All-Star at every position just makes the team less exciting for the league and its fans. Haren is in the 2nd year of a 4 year contract that he signed with ARI in 2008. He is set to earn $12.75 mil over the next two years. A deal is not done however and until it is, many things can change. Stay tuned.
