According to the New York Post's Mike Puma, the Mets are looking to trade OF Jeff Francoeur, and could have a deal in place by the time the Mets finish their series in Los Angeles this weekend.
Opinion: I feel that the Mets are in a tough spot with Frenchy. He obviously is has no where to play in the Mets OF because of the emergence of Angel Pagan, however he is the type of player that needs to get at-bats daily in order to be productive at the plate. He is not the type of player who can be a role guy. It would be easy for the Mets to cut ties with him by either trade or release however he has been so positive for this team and the clubhouse. He hustles and has a contagious attitude and personality that clearly resonated through the Mets clubhouse. If you have been paying attention, I do not think it is a coincidence that the Mets have been struggling since Frenchy's role has decreased. So what should the Mets do with a player who is not producing on the field, but has such a great influence in the clubhouse? We shall see.
