News: Mejia excellent for Triple-AAA Buffalo

Mets pitching prospect Jenrry Mejia made his first start on the Triple-AAA level tonight for the Bisons in Buffalo and was fantastic. Reports out of Buffalo are that he had complete command of his pitches and kept the opposing hitters off balance all night. These reports are reflected in his stat line on the evening as he completed 8 innings pitched, while only allowing 1ER, 5 Hits, 1BB, and 9K's while picking up a no decision.

This is great news for a club who is looking for anything positive to talk about. After struggling starting the year on the Major League level out of the bullpen, the Mets decided to send him down and stretch him out as a starter, which is what he is most familiar with. Many scouts say that he has front of the rotation stuff, as long as he can harness his off-spead pitches and commad the fastball. Tonight was obviously a huge step in Mejia's career as a starter. After tonight's successful start, even more speculation will occur of Mejia making his first Major League start in Chicago this weekend.
