Trade: Roy Oswalt

A source tells Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com that the Phillies have agreed to send three players to the Astros for Roy Oswalt. According to Rosenthal, J.A. Happ will go to the Astros in the deal, and Houston will also cover a "very significant" portion of the $23 million-plus remaining on Oswalt's contract. Now we wait to hear if Oswalt agrees to waive his no-trade clause.

If Oswalt waives his no-trade clause, this is a great move for the Phillies. A 1-2-3 of Halladay, Oswalt, and Hamels has to make them the favorites in the NL. I would not be surprised to see them overtake the Braves in the NL East.

  1. Wow that really blows for the Mets....We can't even say wait until next year cause we know management will not go all out for the players we need....It is a shame...We need a GM and an owner that wants the WS title...until that changes we will never get back to the big show

  2. Hey Woody, I dont doubt that ownership wants to win but I do not know if the financial resources are there. I think there is more to the puzzle that they tell. As far as a GM, I think it is time for Omar to go as well, but Ownership for some reason loves him so he is not going anywhere. This trade is definitely bad news. The only hope is that Oswalt won't waive his no-trade clause.
