Alex Speier of WEEI.com reports that the Blue Jays are seeking "one or two" top prospects in exchange for lefty reliever Scott Downs.
Opinion: Downs might be moved before Saturday's non-waiver trade deadline but the Blue Jays are crazy to think that they will receive two top prospects for him. They might not even get 1 top prospect. Middle relievers in my opinion are crap shoots. They can be dominate one year and be a bust the next. No middle reliever in the game is worth a top prospect.
I agree, very few guys like Scott Sheilds who have legitimately had a long steady career as a successful middle reliever.
ReplyDeleteI wish baseball did something to change that fact that these teams out of the race become garage sales, helping the teams in the lead.
