The Mets lost to the Dodgers by the score of 3-2 in 13 innings. Mike Pelfrey made the start for the Mets and was much better than he has been as of late. He was not very economical however and was only able to make in through 5 Inn. He gave up 2 runs, 1 unearned that scored largely in part of an error on Pelfrey. This outing was definately a step in the right direction for Pelfrey.
Once again the offense could not do anything off the opposing teams bullpen. The Mets got into the LA bullpen after 5 innings but had no hits against them after the 6th inning.
On a positive note, Jason Bay seems to be looking alot better at the plate as he once again had 2 hits.
In the Bot of the 12th the Dodgers put runners on 2nd and 3rd with one out. Jerry Manuel then brought in Oliver Perez from the bullpen. Perez did a fine job getting Andre Ethier to pop out to Blanco behind the plate and then got Jamey Carroll to ground out to 2nd to end the inning. Unfortunately Perez's success allowed him to stay in for the Bot of th 13th, and on the first pitch to James Loney, Loney deposited it into he right centerfield stands for a walk off Home Run.
This was the 12th walk off loss the Mets have suffered this year. They now have fallen 7 /12 games out of the division lead an 5 games out in the wildcard.
